Short Biography

Born Birmingham England 12/11/1953. Educated Central Grammar School for Boys Tile Cross Birmingham. 1965-72; School Captain and Head Prefect. Attended Guy’s Hospital Medical School 1972-77. MB BS LRCP MRCS 1977. House Surgeon and Physician Lewisham and Hither Green Hospitals. Casualty SHO Lewisham A & E Dept 1978. Primary FRCS 1978. Senior House Officer General Surgery Isle of Thanet District Hospital Margate 1979-80. Joined HM Armed Forces May 1985 to complete Higher Surgical Training (HST). After initial training at Royal Army Medical Corps HQ Mychett and Royal Academy Sandhurst served at QEMH Woolwich, Cambridge Military Hospital, Aldershot and British Military Hospital Berlin before returning to UK. Served on active duty in Northern Ireland, Kuwait, Falkland Islands, Macedonia, Bosnia, Croatia and enjoyed a six month sabbatical in vascular surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne, Australia 1998-1999.

HST at Canterbury and Thanet Hospitals, Surgical Oncology Unit QEMH Woolwich and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London for vascular surgery training and research. MD Thesis (London) 1990. Appointed Consultant 1990.
